About the author: Masanori Saito is a Professor Emeritus of Tokyo Institute of Technology. He is an honorary member of the Seismological Society of Japan, and the Society of Exploration Geophysicists of Japan.
This book describes elastic wave theory from the view point of seismology, and also the basic mathematical skills necessary to analyze seismic waves.
This book is a summary of lecture notes which the author has used at universities for many years. Since the discussion on seismology has been kept to a minimum, this book may be used as a textbook of elastic wave theory. Since the state of art of seismic wave theory is far beyond the scope of this book, it can serve as an introduction to the more advanced theory.
